Volunteer Needed: Art Vendor with Els for Autism Foundations’ Micro Business

Details:
This is a fun and exciting volunteer position assisting with the Sea of Possibilities, a micro business created by the Foundation to make and sell sea-themed merchandise at local green markets, festivals, and similar.
Typical duties may include:
🔹Attend scheduled Friday midday to evenings, Saturdays and early evenings, Sunday mornings into mid-day, and weekday and evening weekday events.
🔹Drive the Foundation van with merchandise to various vendor shows and events
🔹Assist with setting up and breaking down a tent and tables and the various art pieces into the correct bins.
🔹Assist with working with clients with autism to help them package items sold and give them to the correct customer
🔹Assist with the supervision of clients during the events
🔹Assist with providing customer service when people walk up to the vendor booth and when the Microbusiness Specialist is waiting on another customer

This micro business empowers and supports adults with autism to gain essential life skills for both employment and independence. Through the Sea of Possibilities, participants create a variety of ocean-themed art projects using materials from the beach such as shells, driftwood, coral, sand, and sea glass.

The ‘Sea of Possibilities’ microbusiness empowers participants to learn:

🔸Staying on task
🔸Communication skills
🔸Community Inclusion
🔸Money skills
🔸Motor skills
🔸Vocational skills

In-service training to learn about individuals on the autism spectrum will be provided as well as training on how best to serve as an art vendor volunteer.
A willingness to learn about, work with and assist with the development of individuals with autism in addition to engaging potential customers. Attend the Greenmarket events on the weekends and have the ability to volunteer for at least 3 events per year.

Available shifts include set up 6-10 AM and 10 AM-2:30 PM which includes a breakdown

There is also an opportunity to volunteer for Friday late afternoon-evening events which include set up.

Connect with the community, empower, and assist individuals with autism. Help to raise money for autism programs for adults.
