Volunteer Opportunities

Palm Beach County Rehabilitation Center is seeking to fill a number of volunteer positions:

TJ’s Cafe (Mon-Fri, 9:30am-2:00pm) Volunteers are need in the Center’s cafeteria to assist the clients and staff with taking orders, cashiering, food preparation, baking and cooking. Involves bending, stretching, and lifting.Seniors in Transition and Retirement Services “STARS” (Mon-Fri, 9:30am-2:00pm) Volunteers are needed to provide companionship and participate in arts and crafts, games, field trips and other activities. Involves bending, stretching, and lifting.

Work Operations (Mon-Fri, 9:00am-3:00pm) Volunteers are needed to assist instructors in the production workshop. Work with small groups or one-on-one inspecting materials, counting, pick-up and distribution in the work areas. Involves bending, stretching, and lifting.

Hab Center Thrift Store (Mon-Sat, 9:00am-4:00pm) The PBHAB Thrift Store is accepting volunteers to utilize and develop retail experience in displaying, sorting, and organizing merchandise while enjoying interacting with people. The volunteer hours are flexible, Monday-Saturday 9:00am-4:00pm. Maintenance (Mon-Fri, 9:00am-4:30pm) Assist with general maintenance/cleaning, painting, light plumbing, electrical, and gardening. Involves bending, stretching, and lifting.

Computer Training Lab (Mon-Fri, 8:30am-11:00am;12:15pm-3:15pm) Assist clients with computers with basic keyboard operation, word processing and data entry skills. Involves bending, stretching, and lifting.

Switchboard (Mon-Fri, 9:00am-4:30pm) Copying, filing, typing and general office duties.

Our Mission is to ensure that individuals with disabilities in Palm Beach County have the best environment in which to learn, work, and live.
To accomplish this, we provide:

Our Vision is an inclusive community where Individuals with disabilities can realize their full potential and contribute to the community in personally meaningful ways.

Training is provided by the Director of the Department that a volunteer is serving.

Must be 18 years old or older with transportation. Provide a copy of Driver’s License and pass  background screening.

Monday- Friday from 8:00-4:30pm.  We accept  year-round or seasonal, a few hours a day, week or month and hours are flexible, according to your availability.

Our Belief is that we have the responsibility to provide the tools, opportunities, and support needed for each Individual to make their own unique and valuable contributions to society.

Our Administrative Office is always looking for volunteers to serve as ambassadors for Habitat for Humanity’s mission.  If you are hospitality focused, possess excellent communication and telephone skills, and you are willing to take on projects as needed, you can become part of our outstanding volunteer team with the potential in becoming a “Dream Builder” for long-standing volunteer service.   Basic Microsoft skills are a plus.Volunteer shifts include: Monday-Friday  9.00 AM to 1:00 PM or 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM

In addition to the intrinsic value of being part of the Habitat Mission which is to build strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter, you will be part South Palm Beach’s HQ.

Building and providing affordable housing to low income families.

We provide an initial orientation and continuous on the job training as needed.

Good customer service and communication skills.  Must be able to handle incoming visitors, answer and redirect incoming phone calls, and handling an occasional project.

Monday Through Friday- 9:00a.m. – 1:00p.m. or 1:00p.m. – 5:00p.m.

Must work a minimum of one shift per week.

Learn or hone new or existing skills.  Learn the not-for-profit industry.

Beaches from Lake Worth to Boca Raton need your help as a volunteer Beach Keeper!

Cleaning beaches of litter and debris.  Can volunteer as individual or organize a work party from your club or community.

Contribute to the enjoyment of our beautiful beaches and to the economic impact for Palm Beach County of beaches that people from all over the world want to visit.

A major impact on the environment.

No experience necessary.

No requirements except willingness to work.

Pickups are scheduled for early morning and evening when cooler.

Pride in contributing to our community and a sense of a larger purpose:  environmental impact.

Volunteer positions are available with Palm Beach County Division of Senior Services to provide companionship to seniors in their home throughout Palm Beach County for up to four (4) hours per day.

All volunteers will receive a stipend for their period of service.

Volunteers must be:

  • 18 or over to participate
  • in good health
  • have a reliable source of transportation
  • pass a level II background screening
  • complete 20 hours of training prior to starting
